The Red Bird System
Over 850 million people live without access to clean drinking water. Most of these people (746 million) live in rural areas, where existing infrastructure can be very limited. Nearly 42,000 people, including more than 31,000 children, die each week because of poor water quality and poor sanitation. It is not only a human health impact - business and the world economy are affected by the availability, cost, and quality of water.
The Solution - Clean water with only sun, sand and salt
The Red Bird System is an extension of our mission to help provide clean water around the world, through economical and environmentally friendly means. The patented solar-powered water treatment system is a groundbreaking, high-tech solution for low-tech environments. The Red Bird produces tens of thousands of gallons of clean water daily at a fraction of a cent per gallon. Designed specifically for the harshest conditions encountered globally, we aim to bring the Red Bird to communities throughout the world.
Description and Units Available
Our Red Bird Systems use patented technology to produce thousands of gallons of clean water per day from any fresh water source using power from the integrated solar array, a generator, or from the power grid. Within hours of arrival at a site, an integrated pump takes water from the source to the system. Treatment occurs through natural media filtration followed by disinfection by disinfectant produced by the system. The only regular input is widely-available rock salt.
To accomodate various communities, we have developed 3 differenct Red Bird Systems:
- The Mobile Red Bird System
- The 10-foot Community Red Bird System
- The 20-foot Community Red Bird System
